Description
Surf’s up this February with Syncretism, as Inner Tube hit Brisbane for their debut concert!
Inner Tube is the creation of Mark McGuire (Emeralds) and Spencer Clark (The Skaters) and is a tribute to living life through the tunnel of a wave, inspired by a mutual love of legendary Aussie surf film “Storm Riders”.
Known for their outstanding and visionary use of guitar and electronics, Inner Tube surfs the edges of musical homage to create a sound best described as ‘post-everything surf music’ – the musical equivalent of riding a near perfect wave. McGuire will perform solo as well, presenting some of his outstanding guitar work.
Syncretism also travels from sea to sky, with special guests Monopoly Child Star Searchers on board.
“It's music that wants to find its way into your life and do some good, and I can't think of any good reason to resist it.” - Pitchfork on Mark McGuire

Description
Australia's first truly integrated creative art space, Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley was officially opened in the latter half of 2001 to generate a unique blend of contemporary dance and music, visual arts, contemporary chamber circus, multimedia, indigenous theatre, youth arts and screen culture.
The Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts is a cutting-edge centre which incorporates a 300-seat performance space, modern art gallery, artist studios, a screening room, purpose built administration and storage facilities, workshops and theatre, music, dance and circus rehearsal spaces.
Named after the late Queensland poet and environmental activist, the establishment of the Judith Wright Centre is the result of a unique partnership between seven founding arts organisations and the Queensland Government.
The founding organisations were; Elision Contemporary Music Ensemble, Expressions Dance Company, Circa: Rock 'n' Roll Circus Ensemble, Kooemba Jdarra Indigenous Performing Arts, The Institute of Modern Art, The Arterial Group and the Brisbane branch of the Australian Film, Television and Radio School.
| Youth Arts Queensland, Ausdance Queensland and Freshwater Films have since moved into the Centre as creative industry tenants, representing the breadth and style of Queensland's state of the arts. Work by independent Brisbane artists and local and international musicians is shown regularly. An edgy performance program featuring electronic and world music, performance art and cabaret adds a fierce new twist to valley culture. |
