Di Bos - His first musical encounters take place with his mothers’ usual pans and salad bowls as well as the fabulous washing powder boxes.

“Five episodes from Le garage hermetique” is a trip into the imaginative world of French artist and writer Moebius (Jean Giraud) freely transformed in music by Di Bos. It’s part of a larger project called “Le Garage hermetique de Jerry Cornelius” (in collaboration with other Italian musicians: Hysm?duo, Torba, M!, Clov, aaldo, Vip Cancro) that will be released at the start of 2012 by Hysm. Nesmetal - Lyrics for the Enthralled EP

on Saturday, 20 August 2011. Posted in Netlabels news & reviews

‘NESMETAL’ is Johnathan Godbolt. He was born in the fall of 1982 on October 18th. He currently lives on the east coast of the united states.

“I’ve always loved old Nintendo music,” says Johnathan, “and I’ve always loved the more extreme side of music. As a kid I always listened to more hard rock than anything, as of course what my parents permitted at that young age. Growing up with bands like Petra, and Stryper paved the way nicely for crossing over into the faster, more technical genres of metal, as well as creating an open mind towards the classic/progressive rock styles.”

Dissonant Field Recordings: Raw N^D, Aortha, Koin Nockio, and Roomdark

on Tuesday, 02 August 2011. Posted in Netlabels news & reviews

Far from Moscow

The city of Tiumen' in southern Siberia is located more than 1,300 miles from the Russian capital. It is also, on a less celebrated level, home to the youthful glitch-hop practitioner known as Koin Nockio. In other related venues, he sometimes adopts the equally mysterious identity of "Konstantin Chyo" (his real surname, however, appears to be Bolotnikov). Partially responsible for the workings of a Siberian dubstep label, Nockio has been authoring his own music for the last three years. In his own words, "my first efforts were a real experimental mishmash, but they at least were an initial, important step en route to further developments."

Lee Rosevere - The Devil is a Captcha

Captcha's were already annoying, and lately they've gotten worse. The jumbled letters are so masked on website that they can be barely read, let alone retyped.

On a recent account signup, Google asked me to type something illegible. So I hit the "play" button so I could understand it. What I heard was even more disturbing (google "captcha" on youtube, others have discovered it too).

Complex Silence - Call for Submissions!

on Monday, 18 July 2011. Posted in Netlabels news & reviews

A painter paints pictures on canvas. But musicians paint their pictures on silence. ~ Leopold Stokowski

Each Complex Silence release features a different artist. The creative challenge is to explore the depths of long-form ambient music composed entirely of extremely subtle changes, dissonant harmonies, stretched-out harmonics, abstract tone washes, layers of mystical atmospheres, or field recordings, but without straying too far from beauty, mystery, or wonder.

Multiple Functions - C. Reider

on Tuesday, 05 July 2011. Posted in Netlabels news & reviews

More than just tones and sound manipulations, Reider takes an atypical and almost deviant exploration into electronic frequencies

write Mr. Reider ..........As Marc Weidenbaum wrote about C. Reider last year in the Disquiet review of Steam Inspector (2009), Reider is a  ”deeply curious (and curiosity-inducing) musician”. Maybe it’s this curiosity for both musician and listener that makes C. Reider such a daring and admired experimental sound artist.
